“This is a franchise that has been built for 16 years on this idea of family being kind of the cornerstone … and to play a character that has to kind of break all of that up, it was fun, yeah, and challenging,” Theron said of playing the film’s main villain at its Berlin premiere, according to Reuters.

Jonathan Ollivier was aged 38 when he died

A minicab driver has been cleared of causing the death of ballet star Jonathan Ollivier by careless driving.

Ollivier, 38, suffered fatal head injuries after his motorbike was involved in a crash with a car in Clerkenwell, central London, on his way to a performance in August 2015.

The cab driver was Abdul Qayyum, 44, from Slough, Berkshire.

He was found not guilty of death by careless driving on Tuesday after a trial at the Old Bailey in London.

Ollivier made his name with Matthew Bourne’s company New Adventures, playing The Swan in Swan Lake and Speight in Play Without Words.

He had been on his way to perform in Bourne’s production of The Car Man at Sadler’s Wells Theatre.

After the accident, the choreographer described Ollivier as “one of the most charismatic and powerful dancers of his generation”.

You Can Now Dress Like Minnie Mouse, Thanks to Uniqlo & Olympia Le Tan

I just returned from Disney World’s Magic Kingdom last night and let me tell you, Minnie Mouse has got pizzazz. She stood above her colorful parade float in a polka dot dress and happily shook her hips from side to side as she greeted everyone on Main Street U.S.A. with no signs of exhaustion. But who’s behind the animated icon’s look?

Starting today, you can credit Uniqlo. The Japanese retail powerhouse has officially dropped its Minnie Mouse Loves Dots collection and it’s exactly what it sounds like. In collaboration with in-your-face colorful fashion designer Olympia Le-Tan, the collection is part of the brand’s Magic for All collaboration.

So how much does Minnie love her dots? Le-Tan worked with Disney’s team (dream come true) to pick their brains and incorporate the figure’s classic vintage blue dress into her designs. The results are found across 23 items, which include box clutches just like those from Le Tan’s own collections, comfy tees, shirts for girls, and a shoulder bag. Together, they aim to tell the story behind the creation of Minnie’s blue dress. Cute, right?

“My favorite detail is the way the print looks like an embroidery. I love the magic of this effect. It mirrors the way my embroideries look on my classic book-clutches,” Le Tan said in a statement. If you’re in New York soon, you’ll be able to spot Minnie’s dress in the windows of Uniqlo’s 5th Avenue store.

Uniqlo’s Minnie Mouse Loves Dots collection is now available at Uniqlo.com and at stores. Scroll down to see more from the collaboration.

John Cleese to make BBC sitcom comeback

John Cleese to make BBC sitcom comeback

Cleese will appear as Phil, an old boyfriend of the lead character Edith

In 2015, John Cleese said there was “no way” he’d work at the BBC. Now, though, he appears to have changed his mind.

Almost 40 years on from Fawlty Towers, the 77-year-old is to make a new BBC sitcom that will reunite him with his Clockwise co-star Alison Steadman.

In Edith, they’ll play old flames whose rekindled romance hits the buffers when her 50-year-old son moves back in.

According to Cleese, Charles McKeown’s “are the most enjoyable scripts I’ve been sent in the last 100 years”.

He said in a statement: “It will also be particularly nice to work with Alison again since we joined forces in Clockwise all that time ago.”

Alison Steadman and Jason Watkins will play mother and son in the six-part series

It’s actually been 31 years since Cleese and Steadman played husband and wife in that 1986 film comedy about a punctuality-mad schoolmaster whose journey to a conference is beset with disasters.

And it’s been even longer since he shared the screen with McKeown, who played a supporting character in the famous Fawlty Towers episode involving a dead body.

McKeown played the man discovered blowing up the sex doll when Basil and Manuel entered his room carrying a corpse.

McKeown maintained his connection with the Monty Python team by co-writing several of Terry Gilliam’s films, among them Brazil and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.

Cleese made 12 episodes of Fawlty Towers between 1975 and 1979

Jason Watkins, recently seen in Line of Duty, plays Edith’s grown-up son Roger, while his W1A co-star star Jessica Hynes plays his abandoned wife Wendy.

Anne Reid, James Cosmo and Peter Egan are also part of the “amazing cast” Steadman says she is “thrilled” to be working with.

Shane Allen, the BBC’s controller of comedy commissioning, said the ensemble was “not far off… your fantasy BBC One comedy cast”.

Cleese has been no stranger to US sitcoms since putting Basil to bed in 1979, having popped up in the likes of Cheers, Will & Grace and Third Rock from the Sun.

‘No idea what they’re doing’

Yet he has been withering of the BBC in the past, complaining in 2014 that the corporation had “thinned down and become something very different” from the one that green-lit Python.

“There’s no way I want to work in TV, especially at the BBC,” he told Shortlist magazine the following year.

“I have a nasty feeling a large proportion of the commissioning editors have no idea what they’re doing.”

Filming on Edith will begin in the summer and it is hoped the show will air on BBC One by the end of the year.

Buble and Lopilato put their careers ‘on hold’ following the diagnosis

Actress Luisana Lopilato, the wife of singer Michael Buble, says their three-year-old son is doing well, five months after he was diagnosed with cancer.

The Argentine actress spoke about Noah’s recovery at a press conference for her latest film in Buenos Aires.

She said: “When things like those that happened to us occur, your take on life changes. It happened to us. Now I value life much more, the now and the today.

“Thank God, my son is well.” She also thanked the public for their support.

“I want them to know that they reached us and that it helped us a lot to come through this.

“It’s difficult for me to speak about this. It’s very recent and I’m still a bit sensitive about the subject.

“But the love is daily, when people stop me in the street. It’s wonderful to know that you’re accompanied in life and that people love you.”

‘Thinking about the future’

She and Buble recently returned to her homeland after Noah received treatment in the US.

Buble and Lopilato put their careers on hold when Noah was diagnosed.

But the 29-year-old said seeing Noah “grow and being happy” had given her the strength to finish the film, titled Those Who Love, Hate.

Lopilato, who also has a one-year-old son, Elias, with her husband, added: “We are looking forward to thinking about the future, to seeing our children grow.”
