That Obama Vacation Was Even Better Than You Thought Says Tom Hanks

Oprah Winfrey has been mum about her yacht vacation with the Obamas, but Tom Hanks isn’t being so secretive. On the Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, Hanks spilled some juicy details about the “off the scale” trip, officially breaking Oprah’s “What happens on the boat, stays on the boat” policy.

Earlier in April, the Internet appropriately freaked out upon learning that Hanks, Winfrey, Michelle and Barack Obama, and Bruce Springsteen were vacationing together on billionaire David Geffen’s 450-foot yacht—that’s an A-list crowd if there ever was one! Winfrey has kept quiet when pressed for details on the epic getaway, but Hanks was more than happy to share some memories from the group’s trip.

In an interview with Stephen Colbert last night, Hanks revealed the vacation was even more epic that you’d think.

“Imagine what it could’ve been like it, [and] triple it,” Hanks said. “It was off-the-scale fantastic.”

The 60-year-old Sully star also told a funny story about when the group decided to go biking: “We go on shore and an array of bicycles have been procured for us, rented from all corners of Polynesia and Tahiti and Bora Bora. They’ve all come! And bang, bang, bang, bang, everybody gets on their bikes and takes off.”

“I’m going to tell you right now, there were some great bikes there,” Hanks said. “There were some fine and dandy bikes. And there was one piece of junk, hunk-of-junk bike. Who do you think got the piece of junk, hunk-of-junk bike?”

Indignant, Hanks explained that he got stuck with “an undersized girl’s bike,” while everyone else got to ride fancy new bicycles. Watch the whole interview below—it’s hilarious!

Brie Larson Is Just Not That Into Being a Celebrity

Brie Larson got candid with The Sydney Morning Herald on Friday, as she opened up about being hard on herself and how she finds her celebrity status “challenging.” “It’s just the fact that people care what I have to say,” Larson revealed. “I’m just a person, you know. I don’t know any more than anybody else, so I struggle with that. I struggle with the idea of being an icon to people. I hope people always remember that I’m super-duper flawed.”

The actress attributes her self-criticism as a part of being “obsessed with searching for the truth.” It’s a quest that can become exhausting. While on the promotional trail for her breakout film Room, Larson says she found struggling to deal with the pressures of fame. As she told Vanity Fair, her pals Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence were there to raise her spirits and keep her afloat as she navigated her newfound celebrity. The actress was even in a group chat with Lena Dunham and Amy Schumer that she says, “saved her life.” However, Larson remains adamant about enjoying her craft despite her inner conflict about being in the spotlight.

“I don’t like the celebrity side,” she says. “But I think that that’s o.k … I think there’s a lot of opportunity and a lot of good that comes with it and so I find a way to make my own meaning,” she continues. I want to create more opportunities for different people to tell their stories, so the fact that I’m now in this position where I can direct or produce, or I can help create more opportunities for others, that makes it all worth it. There are downsides but I wouldn’t trade it for anything different.”

Lawson has since seemed to better adjust to being a celebrity by bringing her own quirky charm to her Instagrams and to interviews on the red carpet. She is also bringing her quirk to her craft and directing her first feature film Unicorn Store which also features Samuel L. Jackson, Joan Cusack and Bradley Whitford.

Emma Stone Thought Her Anxiety Would Keep Her from Moving Away from Home

Emma Stone is one of the most successful actresses of her generation—she took home the Academy Award for Best Actress this year for her role in La La Land. But there was a time in her life when she thought she’d never make it to Hollywood because of her crippling anxiety.

In a new campaign with the Child Mind Institute, a nonprofit for children with mental health and learning disorders, Stone gets candid about her own struggles with mental health issues and reveals what she would tell her younger self.

“What I would tell my younger self about having anxiety is that life goes in stages and it has always been something that I’ve lived with and that flares up in big ways in different times in my life. But sometimes while it’s happening, like when I’m in a phase of real turmoil, the anxiety is very strong, it feels like it’s never going to end, and it does,” she says in the video at top.

“I mean, it ebbs and flows in such a way that as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned how to manage it with so many tools. There are so many tools you can learn for it that have lead to me living a pretty normal and exciting and vibrant life, which I truly as a kid did not think I would be able to ever move away from home or be apart from people that I had separation anxiety with.”

“I’ve been able to manage that with great therapists and with great, basically cognitive behavioral tools, you know, meditation and lots of things. It’s so nice to know in those moments of real intensity that it will shift and it will change and there’s a lot I can do to help myself,” she said.

Justin Trudeau Dons Firefighter’s Jacket Ignites Twitter Firestorm

The notoriously sexy Canadian Prime Minister went to visit some first responders in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan on Thursday morning.

While his intentions were good, we fear Justin Trudeau’s visit may have sparked more flames than it put out. Somehow (thank you, Canadian fire station Gods), the political hottie ended up posing in a firefighter’s jacket, and yes, your inference was correct, it was TOO HOT TO HANDLE.

Seriously, Justin should know better than that. If this appearance doesn’t inspire a new religion or something, I’ll be shocked.

Oh, wait, it already has:

Unsurprisingly, everyone had a little something to say.

It inspired some to sing:

It inspired others to make some pretty obvious (but necessary) innuendos:

All of the pieces came together:

Carrie Dragshaw Is the Style Icon Your Instagram Feed Needs

In case you’re a little behind in your Insta-stalking, Carrie Dragshaw is everything that’s been missing from your feed.

Dan Clay’s popular account is exactly what it sounds like: an homage to Sex and the City’s sassy style icon, Carrie Bradshaw (in drag).

dan_clay/Instagram

Clay (sorry, Dragshaw) copies Miss Bradshaw’s most iconic looks and posts side-by-side photos of both the HBO character and her drag queen counterpart—each comes with its own insightful Carrie-esque caption, of course.

It all began with a viral Halloween costume:

But soon, Dragshaw took on a life of her own…

“All the comments were so so kind, and I still had all these pictures left from our little West Village photo shoot, so I decided to keep it going for a bit,” Clay told HuffPost of his decision to extend Dragshaw’s legacy. “I posted a few more pics, even trying to capture Carrie’s classic narration style. I always thought it would just sort of fade away―[but] it never did!”

“I love the idea that the pictures could brighten someone’s day,” Clay continued, “Life isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, and just this tiny opportunity to make someone smile—that’s reason enough to prance around the Plaza in imitation Dior. I especially love the idea that the captions could connect with people. There were moments in Sex and the City that were really empowering—preaching independence, self-confidence, friendship, and fabulosity. I really appreciate the opportunity, even on a small scale, to provide that kind of uplift and perspective.”

Amen, Clay.

When we heard that Selena Gomez was serving as the executive producer of a new teen Netflix series about a hit book, our first thought was “instant success.” Gomez herself is the most-followed person on Instagram. Add in a controversial topic (suicide) and a buzzy young cast (Katherine Langford and Dylan Minnette), and you have yourself a smash hit.

Within weeks, the series became the most tweeted-about show of 2017, and the streaming company is reportedly working on a Season 2. As for Gomez’s reaction to the series’ success? At We Day California on Thursday she said she was “surprised.”

“I’m a little overwhelmed and very surprised,” the host of the event, held at Inglewood’s The Forum, told E! News. “I mean I believed in the project for so long and I understood what the message was. I just wanted it to come across in a way that kids [would be] frightened or confused—in a way that they would talk about it because it’s something that’s happening all the time. So, I’m overwhelmed that it’s doing as well as it’s doing.”

As for those Season 2 rumors, Gomez had one word: “Maybe?”
